Pressure toll: Model hangs herself

Randhawa allegedly hung herself to death with a saree from the ceiling fan of her living room on Wednesday night. In a neatly-written suicide note she reportedly said that she could not handle life’s pressures any longer, and didn’t blame anybody for her death. Her maid alerted the Juhu police after she found her hanging from the fan. According to the watchman, the maid, as usual, had opened the door of the house to cook dinner.

Her body was taken to Cooper hospital where she was declared dead on admission. The post-mortem indicated that she had not consumed alcohol or drugs before hanging herself.

“We are exploring the angle of a soured love affair. We plan to record the statements of her male co-stars,” said a police officer. The police are also investigating if she was depressed. The police intend to call for questioning her co-actor Bhanu Uday Pratap Singh, also believed to be her boyfriend. In her suicide note, she is purported to have written, “He was the beautiful thing that happened in my life...not all things happen as you wish…some people are strong to bear things, but I am weak.”

Randhawa was close to former Miss India and model Nafisa Joseph who committed suicide on July 29, 2004. She worked in serials like Hip Hip Hurray, Cats, Special Squad and Kohinoor, and had just got her first break in Bollywood with By Chance, due for release soon. She modelled for brands such as Electrolux, Savalon, Maruti and Recova.
