Shiv Sena leader Prakash Mahajan, brother of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, today said he would undertake an indefinite fast to claim his share in the 3.5 acre plot given to a trust seven years ago.
"The ancestral land at Osmanabad, was handed over by Pramodji to the Tapaswi Public Charitable Trust, without consulting anyone in the family," he said.
Poonam Mahajan Rao, Pramod Mahajan's daughter, is the chairman of the trust.
Prakash, who sent notices to the trustees last month, said he would go on an indefinite hunger strike if he fails to get justice. "I will decide the date afterwards," he said.
"I have sought my share and filed an appeal with the Osmanabad SDO, claiming my share of the land. I have a right on it as it is ancestral property," he said.
He also alleged that the trust secretary Milind Patil has indulged in irregularities. Among the educational institutes that have come up on the land is a college, named after late Venkatesh Mahajan, his father.
Meanwhile, Mantralaya sources say it would take a couple of months for the SDO to give a ruling after reviewing the case thoroughly. Prakash Mahajan's plea has some merit and he may get a favourable verdict from the civil court, they said.
