The daylong bandh on Monday called by the Shiv Sena at Lonavla passed without any serious untoward incident.

The party had called the bandh in protest of the shooting of reality tv show Bigg Boss 4. It is against the show featuring two Pakistani participants — actress Veena Malik and talk show host Begum Nawazish Ali.
Superintendent of police Pratap Dighavkar said, “The police have detained over 250 activists including its party’s MP Gajanan Banar, Shivaji Adhalrao-Patil and MLC Neelam Gorhe.”
There was heavy police bandobast by the Pune rural police, headed by additional superintendent of police Ra-mnath Pokale, to stop the Sai-niks from entering the city.
However, the Sainiks managed to sneak in and gathered at Bhaji Market Chowk. They held a meeting condemning the show. They also burnt Pakistan’s national flag during the meeting.
Dighavkar added that the bandobast would continue for maintaining the law and order situation.
Markets and other commercial establishments remained closed. There was a minor lathicharge by the police on some activists who tried to reach the bungalow where the shooting was on.
Activists also staged a protest in Chakan, Shirur and seven other places. They burnt tyres at Lonavla station. Gorhe said the protest would continue, and even become more vigorous.
