Principal district and sessions judge Anant Badar on Tuesday issued proclamation order against Yogesh Ashok Raut, the prime accused in software techie Nayana Pujari gang rape and murder case.

The court had issued a non bailable warrant (NBW) against Raut. The warrant was returnable till Tuesday. After the city police failed to execute the warrant before the deadline, the court issued the proclamation order.

Raut had given the slip to the city police on September 17 last year when he was taken to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment.

The court order stated that the attempt of the police to arrest Raut had proved futile and the NBW cannot be executed because Raut was absconding and there was no possibility of his arrest in the near future.

The proclamation order issued under section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 has given a 30-day deadline to Raut to appear before the court.

Nayana, an employee of a software company in Kharadi, was raped and murdered at Zarewadi Phata near Rajgurunagar in Khed taluka on October 8, 2010. Raut, Rajesh Choudhary (23) and Mahesh Thakur (24) of Khed and Vishwas Kadam (26) of Satara were arrested. Choudhary later turned approver.
