Two days after the suicide of 32-year-old Nidhi Gupta, who jumped from the 19th floor of her building after flinging her two children down, the police are still baffled about the actual reason for her action.

The Dindoshi police have now decided to consult handwriting experts and graphologists to understand Nidhi’s personality.

A chartered accountant, Nidhi had committed suicide by jumping off the 19th floor of the Sahayadri housing complex in Malad after throwing her two children — six-year-old Gaurav and three-year-old Mihika — down to the ground on Tuesday morning. Nidhi was a lecturer in Saraf College in Malad.

Nidhi had left a note in which she said ‘no one is responsible for this’.

According to the police, when Nidhi’s father Bimal Jalan was shown the note, he recognised her handwriting.

“We will now get Nidhi’s writing analysed by handwriting experts and graphologists to understand what kind of a person she was,” said additional commissioner of police Ramrao Pawar.

The police want to find out if she was an individual with suicidal tendencies and whether she was under some kind of psychological pressure in the recent past.

“Experts have claimed that a handwriting analysis report can help gain an insight into the strengths and weaknesses of an individual. It might be of help in the investigations,” said Pawar said.

“It’s not mandatory to get Nidhi’s handwriting profile, but it will surely throw light on the reason why she took such a shocking step,” he added.
