The Municipal commissioner said that the PMC would be able to complete development works in the civic budget in the city in the stipulated time.
Municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak said on Wednesday that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) would be able to complete development works in the civic budget in the city in the stipulated time.
Politicians in the city had expressed apprehension about implementation of development projects after the introduction of model code of conduct in the city due to forthcoming by-election to the Khadakwasla assembly constituency.
He told media persons that the civic body has started works of Rs2,322 crore out of proposed works of Rs2,688 crore before introduction of the model code of conduct. It would take up the remaining work in October, after withdrawal of the model code of conduct. Hence, the civic administration would be able to implement all projects in the budget.
The civic chief said in the civic budget, large development projects worth Rs920 crore are proposed and the work has started on works worth Rs890 crore before introduction of the model code of conduct on September 7. Only works worth Rs30 crore have not been started.
He said out of works of Rs285 crore to be implemented at ward level, projects worth Rs60 crore have been started. These are small projects at local level and they could be completed even if they are started in October after withdrawal of the model code of
conduct.
The municipal commissioner said the works under Jawaharlal Nehru national urban renewal mission (JNNURM) have already been started. Works of Rs1,237 crore out of total provision of Rs1,343 crore in the first part of the JNNURM are being implemented and those of Rs135 crore out of total Rs140 crore in the second part are being implemented.
Voting for the election would be on October 13 and counting on 17.
