The Mata Ramabai Ambedkar (MRA) Marg police have arrested a ward boy of government-owned St George Hospital on charges of threatening and molesting the wife of a patient.

“Praveen Waghela was booked under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and was released on bail by the holiday court on Saturday,” said an officer from the MRA police station.

According to the police, a commuter who fell from the train at Masjid on January 1 was admitted to male ward of the by the CST railway police station. The commuter had come from Bangalore to meet his friend at Dadar. The railway police later informed his wife Asha (name changed to protect the identity) who came to visit her husband.

On Wednesday, at around 10 pm, the nurse told Asha that she should stay at the woman’s ward of the hospital during the night and called the Waghela to take her there. While escorting her, he pulled her close to him and molested her. When she tried to scream for help, he threatened her with dire consequences.

She managed to escape, and contacted her relatives in Bangalore from a PCO. They rushed to Mumbai and she had lodged a complaint of molestation at the MRA police station.
