The launch of two short animated films drew a large audience at City Pride R-Deccan Multiplex on Thursday. The films were made by Rotary Club of Pune Metro to create awareness about road safety.

GS Uppal, senior official of Tata Motors, launched the films. Social worker, Dr Anil Avachat and others were among those present.

On the occasion, 10 drivers from 10 Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus depots were awarded vocational service awards for not committing any road accident during service.

President of Rotary Club of Pune Metro, Dr Madhavi Mehendaley, who has taken the initiative for bringing out the films said, “Most of the people who died in road accidents are youth. I feel it is a loss to not only their families but for the nation as these youths could have contributed to the country’s growth.

“Rotary Club has come up with these films, which will be shown in City Pride multiplex theaters, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) institutes and colleges to make young generation aware of road safety.”
