A 72-year-old former builder died of a fall from a balcony on the 16th floor of a 24-storeyed building at Dadar (West) on Wednesday afternoon.

Manohar Shah was in the balcony of his flat on the 16th floor in the Rameshwaram Tower near Kirti College at Dadar (West) when he lost his balance and fell down.

Daughter-in-law Bhakti Shah, who was in the bedroom with her five-month-old baby, and two helps had reportedly no clue of the mishap until they heard their dog’s barks around 12.30pm.

When Bhakti Shah came out hearing the dog’s barks, she found Shah missing. After some search, she found him lying in a pool of blood on the ground.

Helped into the car by driver Santosh and watchman Ravindra Singh, Bhakti Shah rushed him to the Hinduja Hospital in Mahim, where he declared before admission.

The body was later sent to the Sion Hospital for a post-mortem, said Inspector Jayant Pardeshi of the Dadar police station. The police ruled out any foul play, even as they wait for the post-mortem report.
