A 7-year-old girl, Amrin Sohan Khan, was killed after she was hit by a speeding Tempo on Sunday morning in Hadapsar.
The victim’s uncle, Chand Shabbir Shaikh (36) of Gadital, lodged a complaint at the Hadapsar police station against the vehicle driver, identified as Dilip Keshav Shivle of Loni Kalbhor, for rash and negligent driving.
The driver has been placed under arrest. According to the police, around 9.30 am, Shaikh and the victim were going on a bicycle when it skidded on stone chips in front of Laxmi Clinic in Malwadi.
The assistant police inspector, SS Chavan, of Hadapsar police station told DNA, “The cycle was hit by a Tempo coming from the opposite direction. Both Shaikh and the victim fell on road and sustained severe injuries.”
Amrin was rushed to a private hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Chavan said, “The victim’s father is a labourer and her mother is a housewife.”
