Juhu Police have come across an unusual case of theft wherein two ATM withdrawals were made in just 20 minutes from two different ATMs that are located around 30 km apart. The police are investigating how the thief managed to travel from Vile Parle (first ATM) to Thane (second ATM) in just 20 minutes.

According to police, the thief stole the purse of a woman from a mall in Vile Parle. After stealing the purse the thief withdrew money using the debit card that was there inside the purse. "Usually it takes 50 minutes to reach Thane by road, even if there is no traffic. However, the transaction was made at 7:30 pm, which is a peak hour. We are probing how this could be possible, said the officer.

According to Swati Joshi, the victim, when she had visited the mall last week, she found a woman stalking her. Oblivious to the intention of the thief, Joshi ignored her. It was only when she approached the counter to pay the bill, that she realised that her purse was missing from her handbag. "I immediately asked the mall manager to check the CCTV footage, from which I learned that the woman took advantage of the crowd and nicked my purse," Joshi said.

'The accused made three withdrawals with a debit card. We are trying to track her using the CCTV grab and have flashed her photo in all police stations across the city," said a police officer.
