Teenager held for raping 8-year-old girl in Bhiwandi

The Bhiwandi police have sent a 17-year-old boy to a remand home for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl on the pretext of playing with her. The teenager and the child live in Narpoli locality and are neighbours.

According to the police, on May 26, the boy called the kid to his place around 9 pm when his parents had gone out for some work. He locked the doors from inside and started playing with her. The boy then undressed her and took off his clothes as well. He then allegedly raped her, they said.

In her complaint to the police, the girl's family has stated that when their daughter cried in pain, the boy gagged her with his hand. However, when the girl continued to wail, he fled the from the spot. The teenager has appeared for his HSC exam this year.

The girl went home and narrated the incident to her mother. Her family immediately approached the police, who began a search for the boy and found him in the vicinity. They took him in their custody and later sent him to the Bhiwandi remand home.

Senior Inspector Anil Akade from Narpoli police station said the boy has been booked under under section 376(Punishment for rape) and The Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act 2012.

"We took the accused in custody and sent him for a medical test. The reports are awaited. His parents were out for some work when the incident took place. We are investigating the matter."
