A police sub-inspector (PSI) attached with the Cuffe Parade police station reportedly went missing under mysterious circumstances on November 2, allegedly after he was reprimanded by his seniors. PSI Sanjay Chavan, 42, left his home on Sunday evening to report for work but never reached the police station and neither did he return home. The family has registered a missing complaint with the Nagpada police station.

Chavan had left his home at Nagpada police quarters at 6:30pm to report for night shift. When he failed to show, his colleagues tried calling him on his mobile phone which was switched off. Later, Chavan's superiors got in touch with his family who informed them that he had left home to go to the police station.

"We were informed about Chavan's going missing on Monday morning and we have registered a missing complaint. His mobile phone has been switched off and he has not communicated with his office colleagues or his family members since Sunday evening", said Nandkumar Mehetar, senior police inspector from Nagpada police station.

Later, Chavan's mobile phone was found at his residence after the family started searching for a note. "His family claim that he was under no stress and there was no problem in his family," Mehetar added. Chavan's neighbour confirmed that there was no apparent family discord.
