In the second consecutive general body meeting, the issue of additional floor space index (FSI) for Navi Mumbai and slab falling incidents in old and dilapidated buildings cropped up, and all party members sought a concrete solution of the lingering issue.

Mayor Sagar Naik termed the state government's stand on additional FSI unfortunate and assured the House that he would forward the discussions of members and their concerns to the chief minister to bring the grave issue to his notice.

Bhartiya Janta Party corporator from Turbhe, Vijaya Gharat, brought a calling attention motion to discuss the state of old and dilapidated buildings constructed by Cidco during the general body meeting. "Cases of plaster falling and injuring the occupants has become a norm in Navi Mumbai. Residents are suffering severe injuries because the matter is stuck at the state government level and for want of additional FSI," said Gharat.

A teenager, Akshay Shinde, died in Turbhe after a chunk of plaster collapsed on him last week. The incident took place in the morning when the child was in sleeping on the second floor of the building. The incident shocked residents as slab falling instances have become common in Cidco constructed building in Vashi and Nerul.
