The CBI had registered a case on the allegations that the Recovery Officer has demanded a bribe of Rs 7 lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Recovery Officer from Debts Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in Mumbai and his accomplice (a private person) in an alleged bribery case. The CBI had registered a case on the allegations that the Recovery Officer has demanded a bribe of Rs 7 lakh from the complainant and had instructed him to hand over the same in the form of a cheque to a private person (middleman) for releasing payment in favour of complainant's client.
It was also alleged that the accused introduced the middleman to the complainant and on his instructions, a cheque of Rs 7 lakh was issued and delivered to the middleman. During search, FDs approximately worth Rs 65 lakh and some property documents were recovered.
