Preity Zinta's lawyer Hitesh Jain denied that any sexual charges had been levied by the actress against Ness Wadia.

Speaking to an English news channel on Monday, Jain expressed concern over the 'sexual' angle that had cropped up in reference to the molestation charges filed by the actress against ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia.

He said that the entire case is being projected from the angle of sexual assault, and this should not be so, and denied all reports which claims that Preity charged Wadia of sexual assault.

The actress had only charged him of molestation and abusive behaviour among other charges, and had never said anywhere that she was sexually harmed by him.

Preity had filed a written complaint following which an FIR was registered against Wadia under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

According to this section, a person is punishable if charged with assault or insult the modesty of a woman. The whole case being projected as 'sexual molestation' is absurd and wrong, he added.

Preity however is out of the country at the moment, and will re-record her statement in detail once she returns.
