Pop singer Nitin Bali dies in car crash; drunk driving suspected

Popular Bollywood singer Nitin Bali died on Tuesday morning following a fatal road accident he suffered on Monday night. Bali, who was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident, rammed his vehicle into a road divider. He sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital, but died on Tuesday morning after his condition worsened.

According to the Kasturba Marg police, Bali was on his way to his Malad residence. He was driving on SV Road when the car collided with the divider. The police believes that Bali had consumed alcohol and was driving negligently. He was rushed to Shatabdi hospital in Kandivali, but he reportedly refused to get medicated.

He was then taken to the Kasturba Marg police station. The police took a blood sample and registered a case of rash driving and drunk driving against him. On Tuesday morning, however, he started feeling uneasy and started vomiting blood, following which he was rushed to a private hospital close to his house where he was declared dead on admission.

"The deceased was driving a Hyundai Getz car in a drunk state, and this led to the accident. He refused to get medicated, and we believe that he sustained major internal injury as well, due to which his condition worsened. The Kasturba Marg police has registered an accidental death report (ADR) and the probe is underway," said deputy commissioner of police, Zone XII, Vinay Kumar Rathod.
