There is a reason to rejoice for people suffering from osteoarthritis, slip disc, lumbar spondylosis, cervical spondylosis, gout, varicose veins, arthritis and many other musculoskeleton disorders. OPTM Health Care launched its third centre in the city, in Andheri, on Friday.

Based on the concept of use of phyototherapy, Dr Apurba Ganguly, chairman-founder and chief research officer of OPTM, said, "Our treatment is the only one that can bring back symmetry of knees, with recovery from pain. Phytotherapy uses natural formulation, but it can't be equated with ayurveda or kabiraji."

Ganguly invented the AG Electro Pulse Therapy for pain management and started treating patients from his own clinic named Krish Pain Treatment & Research Centre in Kolkata in 1991.

He said OPTM is the only pain care organisation that can completely help a patient recover from all musculoskeleton disorders. "Nearly 99% of pain clinics or specialists in India don't know how to diagnose pain. For example, when you are suffering from knee pain, the specialist only checks your knee region. The pain in a particular region cannot be the parameter of degeneration," said Ganguly.

He added that the unique pain diagnosing parameters developed by OPTM check muscle damage, skeleton muscle damage, anatomical asymmetry, inflammation and degeneration between the joints.

"While others can only provide temporary relief, we can provide a permanent end to pain. Our unique internationally-recognised diagnosis and treatment procedure can check the improvement of damaged muscle, damaged skeleton muscle and inflammation, along with increase in gap between joints," said Ganguly.

He said that unlike other "pathies", OPTM does not aim at reducing pain. "It aims at reducing oxidative stress and regenerating damaged cells responsible for any kind of disorder."

Recently, Ganguly's research paper was published in the US in an international medical journal. His research findings are now being taught at the New York Chiropractic College.
