Mumbai crime branch nab 9 for selling duplicate products

The crime branch officers have arrested nine people who were allegedly involved in selling duplicate products of an American multi-national consumer goods company. The company Procter and Gamble in it's complaint lodged at D N Nagar Police Station had alleged that products belonging to Gillette brand were being duplicated by some people and the same had adverse effect on the safety of consumers and on the economic interest of the company.

According to the crime branch officials, the D.N Nagar police had registered a complaint under section 420,468,471 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, section 51,63,65 of the Copyright Act and section 103 and 104 of the Trademark Act against the accused people. Different units of the crime branch had also conducted a parallel investigation and the probe revealed the involvement of nine people behind the racket who were allegedly selling the products of the said company at different markets of the city.

"Those accused have been identified as Pankaj Nisar (37), Pankaj Jain (38), Mangilal Chowdhry (37), Badar Alam Shaikh (23), Nasir Shaikh (25), Iftheqhar Aalam (22), Tabrez Shaikh (21), Mohammed Pir Shaikh (44) and Pravin Fulwala (62). All of the them were arrested after the officers raided at total 10 shops at different parts of the city. On being produced at the Esplanade Court, the accused have been sent to police custody." said a police officer.
