NRI police have registered a case of assault, deterring public servant from doing their duty and outraging modesty of woman against over 100 persons of Kombadbhuje village in Ulwe node for allegedly attacking a police team from Mumbai on Monday early morning. The police had visited the village to apprehend an illegal Bangladeshi.

A team of a police sub inspector, two head constables, and two women cops and a driver from special branch of Mumbai police had gone to Kombadbhuje village under NRI police station in Navi Mumbai to arrest an illegal Bangladeshi. But villagers thought that they were thieves and started beating them.

“Villagers mistook their identity and beat them brutally. Two policemen were admitted at MGM Hospital in Vashi,” said Shekhar Bagadem senior PI of NRI police station. NRI police have registered a case under various sections of IPC and started the investigation. Police are now looking a video footage recorded by a cop at the time of attack when to identify who attacked on them.
