Mild tremors of 3.2 magnitude delay trains on Konkan Railway route

Mild tremors were experienced at few places between the Chiplun-Ukshi section on Konkan Railway route at 7.33 am on Wednesday.

The quake, measuring 3.2 on Richter scale, was reported by stations masters of Kamathe, Savarda, Ukshi and Sangameshwar stations. 

The authorities have issued an official statement announcing that none of the engineering structures on Konkan Railway route have suffered any damage due to the quake.
  
Local Konkan Railway officials have inspected all the engineering structures in the sections concerned and reported that all the engineering structures, including track, cuttings, tunnels and bridges are safe.  

However, a few trains were thrown off schedule due to the mild quake. While Train no. 12432 Rajdhani Express was stopped midway for 35 minutes, 12617 Mangala Express was held up for about an hour, and 19577 Tiruvelveli-Hapa Express was delayed by 45 minutes.  

The trains resumed plying after getting a track fit certificate at 9.20 am.
