Man gets 2-yr Rigorous Imprisonment for making sexual gestures at 12-yr-old

The Special Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSOA) court on Tuesday convicted a man for making unpleasant sexual gestures to a 12-year-old girl, who was studying in the corridor of her house in Marol. The court held the man guilty under the stringent POCSOA charges of molesting a child and also under molestation charges of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and thus sentenced the man to two years of rigorous imprisonment under both the charges and both the sentence would run concurrently. The court further asked the accused to pay Rs 10,000 as fine.

The case dates back to the year 2016, when the child was studying in the corridor of her house. The accused Savaramal Jaat saw the child studying and he first blinked his eye. The child got scared and held her book in front of her face.

The accused then went at a distance and started making unpleasant gestures by looking at the child.

The child got afraid and complained about it to her mother.

The mother and the child went searched the man and after the child identified him, the mother called the police and accordingly a case was registered against him.
