The Kharghar police have registered a case against a 35-year-old man for allegedly deserting an adivasi girl after marrying her, to be with his other wife and son. The accused also transferred a plot belonging to the victim, measuring 100 sq metre, to his name, before deserting her.

According to the police, Prashant More, a resident of Vastu Vihar CHS in sector 16, married the victim in 2006 and stayed at her residence for the next couple of years. The victim did not know that More was a married man and a father, too.

“The accused stayed at the victim’s residence for almost four years. However, once he got the plot transferred to his name, he deserted her to stay with his own family in 2007. The victim made several attempts to get him back, but to no avail,” said a police officer from the Kharghar police station.

The victim then approached the court and registered a case against the accused. “After receiving the court order, we have registered a case under sections 420, 463, 467, 471 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code and also under certain sections of Prevention of Atrocities Act against the accused,” the officer said.

Sources from the police station told dna of navi mumbai that the accused has received an anticipatory bail from a local court and is now absconding.
