MahaYuti locked in fierce combat against Mahagathbandhan in Mumbai & rest of Maharashtra

BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) together had bagged 42 seats riding Modi wave while NCP four and Congress two seats in 2014 election in Maharashtra.

In Maharashtra, BJP-Shiv Sena promoted MahaYuti and the Mahagathbandhan formed by Congress, NCP and 54 parties are locked in fierce combat in 48 Lok Sabha seats. Mahayuti is seeking votes on the plank of ''Majboot'' government at the Centre while Mahagathbandhan appeal is for a change in the government to address issues such as farm distress, unemployment, slow pace of economic growth.

BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) together had bagged 42 seats riding Modi wave while NCP four and Congress two seats in 2014 election in Maharashtra. MahaYuti hopes to repeat its performance in this election too while Mahagathbandhan proposes to cash in on anti incumbency.

BJP and Congress are pitted against each other in 17 seats while its Shiv Sena vs Congress in 10 constituencies. Sharad Pawar led NCP and BJP face direct contest in 8 seats while Shiv Sena takes on NCP in 11 seats. In the reserved seat Amravati Shiv Sena MP Anand Adsul faces tough challenge from Yuva Swabhimani Party while in Hatkalangade the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana MP Raju Shetty is fighting against Shiv Sena nominee Dhairyasheel Mane.

In north-east Mumbai, where BJP has replaced the incumbent MP Kirit Somaiya following strong opposition from Shiv Sena. The party nominee, Manoj Kotak, is struggling to repeat Somaiya magic against NCP nominee and former MP Sanjay Patil.

In north central Mumbai, BJP MP Poonam Mahajan faces challenge from Congress nominee Priya Dutt. Riding Modi wave, Mahajan had defeated Dutt in 2014 election.

The Shiv Sena MP, Arvind Sawant, hopes to continue his winning streak in general elections this time too. He is fielded against former union minister and Congress candidate Milind Deora. Sawant wants to cash in on a slew of ongoing development projects in south Mumbai while Deora is approaching voters with various civic issues in the constituency including the crumbling infrastructure.

Former MP and Congress veteran Eknath Gaikwad is locked in fight against Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale in south central Mumbai while Shiv Sena MP Gajanan Kirtikar is pitted against Congress candidate Sanjay Nirupam in north west Mumbai. The Bollywood star turned Congress nominee Urmila Matondkar is making all efforts to take on BJP MP Gopal Shetty in north Mumbai.

In Marathwada, where villages are passing through acute water shortage due to drought, there is a straight fight between BJP and NCP in Beed constituency while BJP and Congress are fighting against each other in Nanded, Jalna and Latur. In western Maharashtra, NCP and BJP candidates are pitted against each other in Baramati, Madha and Ahmednagar while Congress takes on BJP in Pune, Sangli and Solapur. In Vidarbha region, Shiv Sena and NCP are in a straight fight in Buldhana while BJP and Congress in Akola seat.
