Govt spreading misinformation: Mahendra Patil, former sarpanch of Pargaon

Mahendra Patil, former sarpanch of Pargaon, has accused the state government and Cidco of spreading misinformation that only two villages were opposed to the compensation package to acquire land for the proposed Navi Mumbai airport.

“This is not true. The fact is that Pargaon and Owala gram panchayats that are demanding better compensation, cover six villages of Pargaon, Dungi, Kolhi (Kopar), Owala, Varche Owala and Waghivali,” he said.

He also claimed the support of many more villages that had accepted the state government package, saying they were waiting to see what the six villages would get.

On the suggestion to build the airport in the sea, Patil said they had no idea about the plan.
“But if it involves our village lands that border the creek, there are already cases over some of the properties,” he added.
