Five-year-old girl killed, dumped in under construction site

The body of a five-year-old girl was found in an under construction site in Boisar on Friday. A post-mortem revealed that she had been killed and dumped under debris so that her identity could be distorted. Police suspect the hand of a family member in her murder.

Anusha Nishad, a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Salwad area of Boisar, had been missing since Thursday. Her body was found on Friday, in an under construction site that belonged to a builder named Vasant Maurya, who lives in the same locality as the deceased.

Anusha's father, Ramanuj, works for a private firm in Palghar district. An officer with Boisar police informed that a missing person's complaint was lodged with them.

About the search, the officer said: "Her family was looking for her with the help of the police, and her elder brother found the body in an under construction site. She had injury marks near her left eyebrow and died due to loss of blood and internal injuries, as she was assaulted with a hard, blunt weapon."

The officer said that a post-mortem they had conducted revealed Anusha was, in fact, murdered. "We suspect the hand of a family member because have not made it clear as to how they discovered the body," he added.

Mahesh Patil, Boisar police in-charge said: "We have registered the case under IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destroying evidence) against unidentified persons, and are investigating further." Patil confirmed that the girl was not sexually exploited.
