Earthquake of 3.3 magnitude rocks Palghar

An earthquake of the magnitude of 3.3 on the Ritcher scale with a depth of about 10 kilometre was experienced in a few villages of the Palghar district, at 3.15 pm on Saturday. According to experts, it is the same location where an earthquake of 3.2 magnitude was reported on November 11, 2018.

No injuries or casualties have been reported so far. An official from the Maharashtra Disaster Control unit said, "It was not a major incident. It lasted only for a few seconds. There were no injuries. Locals experienced some kind of moving noise along with vibrations."

"It was the same place where an earthquake was reported a few days ago. A study by the National Centre for Sesimolgoy in Delhi says that the area is witnessing concurrent earthquakes due to an ongoing underground movement," the official further said.

Jolts of Saturday's earthquake was felt in the villages of Amboli, Nagzari and Dhanavri.
