A 24-year-old chef died while allegedly handling an electric appliance inside the kitchen of China Town, a Vikhroli-based restaurant. The Parksite Police has registered a case of causing death due to negligence against the owner of the restaurant and has seized the malfunctioned electrical appliance from the restaurant.

According to Parksite Police, Mohammed Baksh, 24, a resident of Bandra was working inside the restaurant when he allegedly touched an electrical appliance, which was passing high voltage current. As soon as Baksh touched the appliance, he was electrocuted and was rushed to the hospital for treatment after the power supply was cut off.

"Baksh died before being admitted to the hospital. The wiring of the electrical appliance was faulty, which led to electrocution. The restaurant owner had not checked the wiring of the electrical appliance," said a Parksite Police Officer.

"We have booked the restaurant owner and the person responsible for managing the restaurant under section 304(A) (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code and we are yet to make the arrest in the case. We sent the body for post mortem and are awaiting reports," said Vilas Jadhav, senior police inspector, Parksite Police Station.
