"Crime against children is on the rise; so, whenever such a case comes to us, we immediately register the complaint and start our investigations. These are sensitive issues and hence we have to be very careful while handling them. Another alarming issue is the rising cases of violence against women. We have a team of women cops for this—they speak to various groups, especially slum women, and ask them if they want to register any case. We spend a lot of time interacting with the locals through interactive sessions and safety campaigns. We also invite schoolchildren to police stations to help them get rid of their fear of the police and put them at ease with us. We have been sending patrolling vans at night to keep a tab on illegal activities in different areas. Vigilance is always a priority. We have observed that there has been a rise in the levels of consumption of drugs and substance abuse. We have deputed teams to go to different colleges to create awareness about the dangers of taking narcotics."
