In the next couple of weeks, the union ministry of urban development is likely to notify DN Nagar-Dahisar (2A) and Dahisar-Andheri (7) Metro lines of Mumbai. There is also a possibility of state cabinet giving its nod to commence the implementation process for the DN Nagar-Mankhurd Metro line.

The notification from the union government is expected to come in within a fortnight. Currently, the bidding process is in the final stages and preparatory work is expected to begin before monsoon, but actual construction will take off only from October this year.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has also sent a note to Maharashtra's urban development department on Metro-2B DN Nagar-Mankhurd. This 23.6-km line is an extension of DN Nagar-Dahisar corridor. "The state's urban development department will present the proposal to the state cabinet so that the tendering process can be initiated," said an MMRDA official.
The file on DN Nagar-Mankhurd will be moved to the cabinet as the officials anticipate the clearance to come in by next week.
The entire corridor of this extended line will be overground instead of the earlier planned underground. Alignment changes have been made as there were a series of protests by Juhu residents. Instead of the line passing through Juhu, it will now go via Gulmohar Road.
Metro 2B with 22 stations will be at an estimated cost of Rs10,900 crore, as against Rs6,410 crore for DN Nagar-Dahisar (2A) with 17 stations and 18.6 kilometres.
