The Worli police have not yet found the body of the man who jumped off the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) on February 10. But now they claim that in a CCTV footage a man was seen swimming back to safety and they believe it could be the man who jumped to commit suicide.

"We have got a footage where we can see a man swimming towards the land and we have a reason to believe that he could be the same man who jumped from the sea link in an attempt to commit suicide," said senior police inspector Vinay Kulkarni of Worli police station, adding: "We cannot say anything with surety as the footage is not very clear. It has been two days and we have not yet recovered the body and no one has come forward to make inquiries at the police station."

The police, in fact, have not yet been able to identity the man who jumped off the bridge. Some hopes were raised on Thursday when the police succeeded in tracing the taxi driver Uday Narayan Jha, who dropped the man at the sea link on Tuesday evening. According to the description provided by Jha, the police zeroed in on one Shailendra Kadam, 31, whose missing complaint was registered with Parksite police station on February 2.

"The description given by the taxi driver matched with that of Kadam, but when we verified we came to know that Kadam had allegedly died in a train accident," said the officer.

On February 10, a man jumped off the sea link, apparently to kill himself. According to the police, he was around 30-35 years of age and was wearing white shirt and a pair of blue jeans. The man came in a taxi around 5.30pm from the

Worli-end and told the taxi driver to stop in the middle of the bridge. Later, he allegedly jumped into the sea. The police were informed about the incident by an unknown person.
