The ACB on Saturday carried out a search at the residence of senior inspector of Mahim police Dastagir Mulla, who was arrested late on Friday after being caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs10,000 from a complainant.
ACB officers said a search was conduced at Mulla's residence in government quarters at Kherwadi, Bandra (East). The ACB recovered Rs30,000 cash, 10 tolas of gold, papers of two flats in Nalasopara and Mira Road, passbooks of three banks and share certificate of Birla company.

According to the complainant, there was a case registered against him at Mahim police station by his landlord alleging that he was not ready to vacate the house. The complainant had said he had got into an agreement of five years and, hence, was living in the house rightfully. A few days back, Mulla allegedly called the complainant and demanded Rs25,000 to not take any action against him and to make him and his landlord come to an understanding. The bribe amount was brought down to Rs10,000 after negotiation. The complainant then approached the ACB, after which a trap was set.
