Fourteen-year-old Firoz Mehboob Ali Khan fell out of a running local train near Dockyard Road station and lost both his legs on Tuesday.

His father Mehboob said, “He boarded a Bandra-bound train at around 1pm. He didn’t go into the same compartment as his friends. So near Dockyard Road station, he peeped out of the coach to check if his friends had boarded the train as well when a pole hit him hard on his forehead. He lost balance and fell on the tracks and the train ran over his legs.”

The boy is a class VIII student from Saboo Siddique School in Sandhurst Road.

A doctor from JJ Hospital said, “His left leg has been amputated below the knee and the right leg from above the knee. He was bleeding heavily when he was rushed into the casualty ward. We managed to revive him and conduct the procedure.”

The police, however, suspect that the boy was performing stunts by hanging outside the coach, but have registered a case of accident.
