Out of 31 Indian toppers, 27 passed their IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) class X Cambridge International Examination (CIE) board exam 2013-14 across the world. The rest passed the AS level and A levels. Out of the 31 students, 14 are from Mumbai.

What recognition will the toppers get?
31 Indian students achieved the highest marks worldwide for single subjects in each of the CIE series – Nov 2013 and May 2014. The toppers, who are from Cambridge schools across India, will each be recognised for their achievements with an Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award, the annual awards programme for CIE.

What subjects did the students excel in?
Of the 31 toppers, 15 got awarded for performance in Mathematics papers. The remaining excelled in a wide range of subjects including English, Information Communication and Technology, Biology and Economics.

What was the growth in the CIE qualifications?
Vinayak Sudhakar, Senior Schools Development Manager, CIE India, said, "In the recent May 2014 exam series, CIE saw strong growth. There was a 10% growth across all Cambridge (including IGCSE, AS level and A level) qualifications offered in India, with more than 43,000 entries. Additionally, entries for IGCSE Mathematics and Sciences (Physics, Biology and Chemistry) have grown by almost 9%, with more than 8000 entries."

How did the Billabong Maths topper cope with the stress?
Rishabh Mani, IGCSE class X topper in Mathematics from Billabong High International School, said, "I joined IGCSE board from class VI. The reason I scored 100 out of 100 in Maths is due to the support of my parents and school. Engaging in playing music on guitar during my board exams also helped me remain stress-free."

Who are the other IGCSE stars?
The other IGCSE subject toppers are Harsh Dave in combined science and Raj Chheda in subject accounting, both students at Uptal Shanghvi and Prabhavati Padamshi Soni International Junior College. Krishnakumar Ajay topped India in Physics and French from Podar International School.
