On Wednesday morning, a student of Murbad Zilla Parishad school was stabbed to death by a distant relative outside his school.

Wednesday morning was the last day of life for Suraj Bhoir (11), a student of class IV of Murbad school. A resident of Nandeni, Murbad Suraj was killed outside his school on Wednesday, when he stepped outside to relieve himself. Instead of going to the school toilet, he went to a nearby under construction building when the incident occured.

"The building belongs to Jaywant Bhoir, who is a distant relative of Suraj, and is said to be temperamental," said Dr Mahesh Patil, superintendent of police, Thane rural.

"Jaywant called Suraj and attacked him with a sickle on his face, neck and waist," added Patil. A friend of Suraj who was playing outside the school saw this and informed the class teacher. "The teacher saw him lying in a pool of blood and the school informed the police," he adds.

Suraj died on the spot while Jaywant, 45, escaped. "We are looking for the accused who is absconding. We learned from the villagers that Jaywant and Suraj's parents had an argument a few days back over some issue which is not known to us yet. The parents are in a state of shock and have not told us anything," Patil concluded.
