Huge loss for NCP, as party loses all 27 seats it had occupied
Updated : Aug 21, 2017, 04:39 PM IST
The Bharatiya Janta Party won 61 out of the 95 seats in the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation Elections. The Shiv Sena was second with 22, while the Congress won 10. The Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, however, did not win a single seat.
Polling for 94 of the 95 seats took place on Sunday, and only 47% voter turnout was recorded due to the heavy rains.

There are a total of 95 seats in the corporation and like the Mumbai Municipal polls, both the Shiv Sena and BJP are contesting separately. Congress won one seat after one of its candidates was elected unopposed. Around 509 candidates are in the fray from the BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP.
In 2012, the BJP-Shiv Sena combine had ruled the MBMC civic body after bagging 29 seats and 14 seats respectively. The NCP had won 27 seats while the Congress had 19 seats.
