SpiceJet announces addition of six aircraft in a month to meet winter demand

Low budget airlines, SpiceJet has announced major expansion plan by adding six new aircraft to its fleet over next month, according to media report.

With six new fleet, the low-cost carrier SpiceJet will be able to operate 291 daily flights up from current 250 flights, which will help to meet the winter demand and growth plans. 

The airline company has added 10 new sectors, 30 new frequencies and 22 connecting flights, covering majorly the tier II and tier III cities The added sectors, which will be effective from October 25, includes Ahmedabad-Goa, Mumbai-Varanasi, and Varanasi-Hyderabad. The flights for Khozhikode-Dubai and Amritsar-Dubai routes will commence operations from November 15. 

As per the report, with this expansion the company will be growing the capacity by 16% and adding depth to existing operations to cater the winter demand.

The company has termed the expansion plan in 30 days as 'a first of its kind initiative in the history of Indian aviation'.

SpiceJet, which is now under the ownership of its original co-founder Ajay Singh, had posted its second straight quarterly profit at Rs 71.8 crore in the April-June period of the current fiscal, helped by a steep 42% reduction in costs and higher seat occupancy.
