The drivers of taxi hailing apps Ola and Uber are expected to go on strike from Tuesday protesting long working hours despite and low fares.

This time, however, the two warring sides - Ola, Uber drivers and kaali-peeli taxi drivers - have joined hands to protest. Both, a union member was quoted as saying in the HT report, now have a common cause as both Ola and Uber drivers and the kaali-peeli drivers want the government to install meters in the taxis and regulate prices.

so far 12 auto and taxi unions have pledged their support for the protest, the report added.

On Tuesday, about 1-5 lakh Ola and Uber drivers will switch off their apps and stay off the roads in a one-day strike. A protest march has been planned from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines from Manju ka Tila, a report by The Hindustan Times said.

Earlier in February, Ola and Uber drivers had gone on a strike to protest against low fares announced by the companies to lure customers. Long working hours were also a concern for most as the low fares weren't enough to pay for their EMIs.

The strike in February lasted for ten days until the Delhi High Court stepped in and asked the management of both the companies to hold meetings with the unions to discuss a fair way out.

However, according to the unions, so far nothing has changed for them.
