JSW Steel reports marginal production growth in Q1

In the quarter, the company's steel production was up only 1% from the same period last year.

JSW Steel has registered a flat growth in crude steel production at 11.26 lakh tonnes in July, 2015 as compared to 11.13 lakh tonnes in the same period last year.

"We have registered a 1% growth in crude steel production at 11.26 lakh tonnes in July 2015 as compared to 11.13 lakh tonnes in the same period last year," the company said in a statement.

The production of flat rolled products registered a 1% growth at 9.06 lakh tonnes in July 2015 as compared to 8.95 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period last year.

However, the production of long rolled products registered a 32% growth from 1.73 lakh tonnes in July, 2014 to 2.28 lakh tonnes in July, 2015, it added.

JSW Steel Ltd, belonging to the JSW group, is engaged in manufacture of flat and long products like HR coils, CR coils, galvanised products, galvalume products, colour coated products, auto grade/white goods grade CRCA steel, bars and rods.

It is one of the largest producers and exporters of coated flat products in the country with presence in over 100 countries across five continents.
