US-based General Electric (GE) has proposed to invest Rs 3,000 crore in Maharashtra during a meeting with state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at World Economic Forum meet in Davos.

GE Vice President John Rice announced this after his meeting with Fadnavis at Davos during the annual World Economic Forum, a press release issued here by the CMO said today.

The company will manufacture high capacity platform turbines, the release said.

Similarly, Schindler, manufacturers of escalators and elevators, will also invest in the second phase of its project in Talegaon.

Fadnavis also discussed milk exports, food processing policy and nutritious food with Nestle officials.

He also invited representatives of Australian company YC, involved in paper recycling, to visit Maharashtra for investment opportunities. A team of company officials will visit the state next month, the release said.

Fadnavis also held discussions with Pepsico's Indira Nooyi, Sanjiv Bajaj of Bajaj industries and Videocon's R K Dhoot, it added.
