As it heats up, there is every reason for one to stay cool. And what better than heading to a bunch of Bangalore’s best known hang-out spaces that never disappoint.

For fresh air
Airlines hotel, a legendary hangout place, is where people from all walks of life flock for some respite. Built under the shade of looming trees, their south Indian coffee and drive-in restaurant are very popular. Says Asrar Ahmed Khan, who frequents the place, “My father used to come here during his college days. Today I hang out with my friends.” The place does not have an organised parking facility and sometimes eating out in the open could be risky, considering the food is open to bird droppings. Nevertheless, the quaint place qualifies as a fun joint.

Bean there
Before the city experienced an avalanche of coffee places, Java City on Lavelle Road topped the list of caffeine lovers. The place has an old-world charm to it. The menu offers tea, coffee, snacks, and sandwiches among other things. Their Church Street branch even has an improved gaming system with Xbox 360. However, owing to the frequent power cuts, be prepared to wait for your order in case electricity decides to play hooky!

Old is gold
One of the oldest pubs of the city, Pecos serves the best beers and free popcorn for 22 years now! The place buzzes with retro music and is high on the fun factor. “Even if you visit Pecos all by yourself, there’s no chance of being bored because of the pulse of the place and the great music,” says Sidharth Rajmohan, a regular. This might just be your answer, to catch up on some good old times!

Gear up for this one
Raasta Café, located at the Bangalore-Mysore highway,  is a getaway post a long drive, out of the city. Relax at their beautiful garden or try your hands at the pool table or the play stations. The food isn’t bad too, but be ready for a laid-back experience, considering the service here isn’t high on speed.

Get sporty

If you are looking for action, then head to Amoeba, which is counted as the first few sports bar in town. The place offers a 10-lane bowling alley, lounge and a gaming centre on the second floor. “This is the place to go for a good gaming experience,” offers Bobby Bongale. Amoeba also has three other branches in the city.
