Go beyond roses this Valentine's Day

If you thought Valentine’s Day was just about receiving much-predictable red roses or heart shaped chocolates or teddy bears, here’s breaking your bubble. A little thought put into it and you’ll realise that there are a plethora of items that you can go for.
Girlfriend getaways are a an increasing fad as a V-day gift for single girls.

“We get together a bunch of like minded women to spend a week in a luxury villa and celebrate V-Day with each other,” explains travel planner Suchna Hedge.

If you’re into adventure and travel, then maybe the special couple travel packages can be perfect. “Two return tickets for a romantic weekend in the Maldives would be the ideal V-Day gift for me,” admits actor Shazahn Padamsee. “An iPad, diamond solitaire ring and a spa voucher too,” she adds.

While one can go on ranting about how flowers are so predictable, relax, you can go beyond red roses. Try dendrobiums, phalaenopsis and anthuriums, as these flowers are pretty and trendy.

However, for those with an arty streak, erotic paintings, handicrafts and arty wall designs in bright colours too make for a good gift. Says mural artist Shally, “These special V-Day art designs for your bedroom walls will help generate an aura of love.”
