Ansel Adams photos bought for $45 at garage sale worth $200m

A man in the US is set to make millions from 65 glass negatives he bought at a garage sale 10-years-ago for just $45 dollars after an expert confirmed that they were created by famed photographer Ansel Adams.

Antique shopper Rick Norsigian, a Fresno, Calif., painter, had bought the images at a Southern California garage sale in 2000, and they had been sold to him by a man who bought them at a 1940s warehouse salvage in Los Angeles.
 
It is not known how the nature images on the glass plate negatives ended up at the warehouse, but art appraisal expert David W. Streets believes the photos were taken between 1919 and the early 1930s.

"This is going to show the world evolution of his eye, of his talent, of his skill, his gift, but also his legacy," People magazine quoted Streets as saying.

"And it's a portion that we thought had been destroyed in the studio fire," he added.

According to CNN, the images had been created long before Adams became nationally recognized in the 1940s.

Norsigian has spent the last decade trying to prove the worth of his discovery, and he is now ready to sell original prints of the photographs, worth at least $200 million , to museums and collectors.
