Suspense over Rajasthan BJP’s new state president is yet to be over even after 10 days. Due to difference of opinion over the probable candidates between Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and BJP’s top leadership a decision regarding the new head of the party’s Rajasthan unit has remained in abeyance.CM Raje arrived in Delhi on Thursday and met national leaders including national president Amit Shah and national general secretary (organisation) Ramlal. After two rounds of talks, the name of the new state chief of Rajasthan could not be declared.

It is believed that neither Raje, nor the top leadership is willing to cede ground when it comes to appointment of Rajasthan BJP’s president’s post. According to sources, the possibility of a quick solution after talks between Chief Minister Raje and the national president Amit Shah didn’t come to fruition. The central leadership is willing to make Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as the state president. But CM Raje is opposing his candidature.

Many BJP ministers and MLAs are camping in Delhi to convince the leadership that Shekhawat isn’t a suitable candidate for the coveted post. However, legislators and ministers did not meet any national leader at the BJP headquarters. All are holed up in Delhi citing personal or official work as the reason. Raje talked to Amit Shah and Ramlal during a private meeting that lasted about one-and-a-half hours. Later, Raje and Ramlal had a separate meeting. Apart from this, Raje also met National Joint Secretary V Satish and Saudan Singh. Details of the meeting with top leaders of the organisation is yet to come out.

Raje told the central leadership that in case Shekhawat becomes the state president, it could wean away Jat and Dalit voters from the BJP. Raje was on a tour of Banswara on Thursday and attended yoga camp of Baba Ramdev.  After this, she reached Tripura Sundari temple and prayed there. After visiting the temple, Raje directly went to Delhi and met the central leaders.
