Soon, a food festival to make you drool over Rajasthan delicacies

The department has instructed its district centres to associate local food and kitchen item businesses with the event ‘Rasoi -2019’.

In a first, the state industries department will host a food festival in Jaipur. Expected to be held from next month at the Rajasthan Haat in city, the festival will provide a platform to local food and spice manufacturers. The department has instructed its district centres to associate local food and kitchen item businesses with the event ‘Rasoi -2019’. 

“Delicacies such as barfi from Chomu, gontwa laddu of Jaisalmer, milk cake of Alwar and several other such food items of state have immense potential for being sold in International market. The festival envisages to be a platform to showcase the traditional food of Rajasthan,” said industries commissioner Krishna Kant Pathak. 

The department had previously held promotional events of processed food and kitchen items with an attempt to draw a larger public participation by planning the industry promotion event on lines of a food festival. The festival which will be held at Rajasthan Haat in Jaipur is planned in three segments.

There will be processed spices packed with Agmark assurance available at counters of local manufacturer. Arrangements will also be made for spice grinding mill to let the visitors feel and purchase freshly grind spices. 

Similarly an oil grinding mill is also proposed to be installed at the festival along with the packed edible oil counters of local industries. Along with edible oil and spices, dried vegetables and processed food items from various industries and cooperatives will also be made available at the counters during the food festival. 

Those aspiring to savour freshly cooked food item will have a choice of a variety of traditional food items of Rajasthan available at food court. 

The department is trying to get culinary experts from various districts to participate in the festival and provide freshly cooked delicacies of their area for the visitors at the food court. The third segment will include a range of kitchen items from modern stoves to traditional cooking pans, said sources.
