The gas plants will generate electricity, gas and organic fertiliser, which will allow each of the gaushalas to earn up to Rs. 25-30 lakh per year.
The Rajasthan government will set up biogas plants in more than 2,800 gaushalas in the state to make them financially independent. Till date, the government and Bhamashahs were providing money to cow shelters.
After the setting up of the biogas plants worth Rs. 1 crore each, gaushalas will be able to care of their expenses and the gaupalaks will also be able to take advantage of it. The gas plants will generate electricity, gas and organic fertiliser, which will allow each of the gaushalas to earn up to Rs. 25-30 lakh per year.
Director of the Gaupalan Department Dr. Lal Singh has claimed that Rajasthan will be the first state in the country, where the work of installing the biogas plants will be done on a large scale. Singh said that the department is planning to install 25 plants by the end of the year, out of which, 5 projects have already been started.
Singh said that the biogas plants will not only utilise the waste gomutra and cow dung, but will also generate income from it. Also, 70% of the income generated from this plant will be taken by the government, while 30% will be given to the gaushalas. Every biogas plant will produce 200 units of electricity, 200 kg gas and 10 metric tonne fertiliser.
Speaking about the benefits of installing biogas plants in the gaushalas, Singh said that these plants will bring a new revolution in the state. The farmers and gaupalaks will be able to understand the importance of cows better.
These plants will increase the income of the farmers and there will be a major change in the economic condition of the villages.
The biogas plants are being set up in gaushalas which are spread across a minimum of 25 bigha land and where the number of cows is more than 1,000. Moreover, two or three gaushalas are also being combined to make it one, so that most of the cow shelters can get the benefit of biogas plant. Gaupalaks and farmers are also happy with the decision of the government.
