The BJP has sounded the poll bugle. An army of astounding 10,000 workers has been inducted to upset the plans of the Opposition parties in the wake of the upcoming elections. For the purpose, two social media war room has been set up and to enthuse the workers, the BJP’s national president Amit Shah will address the social media warriors to give them the necessary pep talk that will help the team sharpen its attack.
To connect with young voters, political parties are giving special attention to strengthen its social media team. All party workers of the state BJP social media cell have been instructed to make at least five WhatsApp groups and campaign in favour of the party. “I am maintaining 450 WhatsApp broadcast groups on my smartphone. I send messages to about 5,000 people daily”, a post holder in social media cell told DNA.
According to sources, the BJP has set up two war rooms for social media engagements. A central war room was set up six months ago in Civil Lines area. A senior leader said, “No leader from the state BJP is aware of Civil Lines office of social media cell. This office is monitored at the central level. The state’s social media team is different.”
According to sources, the state BJP social media war room has been set up inside the BJP headquarters. There is a team of 35 professionals in the war room. This team includes graphic designers, content writers, web designers and other professionals. Apart from this, there is an executive committee of 10 members of the BJP social media cell in all mandals, districts and divisions across the state.
Apart from the social media executive, there are 8,000 social media volunteers. “The main purpose of the social media cell is to counter the Congress and create an atmosphere in BJP’s favour. We prevent negative publicity. It is also our job to propagate the plans of the Central and the state government,” a BJP leader said.
