Prime minister Narendra Modi’s Jaipur visit will play a key role in the way the BJP organisation will function in the coming days. Assembly polls are slated in December and Saturday’s rally can be considered as a formal beginning of BJP’s election campaign in state.  The PM through his speech and gestures tried to convey political message to all.

PM was all praises for party’s newly appointed state president, Madan Lal Saini. Recalling the days spent with Saini, Modi said, “I worked with Madan Lal Saini ji. I did organisational tours with him. Saini is known for having knowledge about organisational matters minutely.” When Modi reached the stage, Saini was standing a little behind other leaders. Modi indicated Saini to come forward and then shook hands with him.

During his address, Modi also heaped praise on Union minister of state for agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. While speaking about the efforts being made by his government for upliftment and welfare of farmers, Modi mentioned Shekhawat’s name for working hard for the farmer welfare.

There were five other Union ministers, who are also MP’s of Rajasthan, sitting on dais but their names were not mentioned by PM in his speech.

It reflects Modi’s inclination towards Shekhawat, who recently lost the race of state president after the state leadership’s opposition to his name. The Rajput community is angry with the BJP for not making Shekhawat the state president and have also registered their protest publicly. The PM praising only Shekhawat, shows that he was trying to give a message to Rajputs. Modi said that Shekhawat is the son of a farmer and he is working for their interests.

This also hints towards the fact that Shekhawat will play a key role in state politics in coming days. There is a clear indication that Shekhawat’s stature has not diminished despite his name not being considered for the post by state leadership and he is still the organisation’s favourite.

PM also praised chief minister Vasundhara Raje and the state government while hinting to the fact that the upcoming Assembly elections will be fought under Raje’s leadership.
