Energy Minister of State, Pushpendra Singh on Tuesday counted upon achievements of his department and made new announcements.

However, there was no action plan containing the accidents due to electric current and transformer bursts. The minister held a press conference on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the state government.

Defending the discom officials, he said that companies which install the transformers, operation and maintenance is done by those companies only for a time period. In response to the question of the death of electrical department’s employees and others due to the current, Singh diverted the responsibility to urban and Panchayatraj bodies. He even blamed the people living under the high tension lines and said that that people make homes near the high tension line, which leads to accidents. Counting the achievements of his department, Singh said that there is no village in the state which is not electrified.

Electricity has been supplied to hundreds of villages under Deen Dayal Scheme, now with the claim that there is no village in the state where there is no electricity. He said that after the Uday Yojana, the liabilities of the power companies have also been reduced. Along with this, 6,561 MW of electricity has been produced in the last four years and the state has surplus electricity. Electricity costs have also decreased per unit. Earlier, it was 9 rupees 20 paise per unit, which is now 8 rupees 10 paise per unit. On the franchisee model for power improvement, the system of Kota, Bharatpur, Bikaner and Ajmer has been given. It is estimated to benefit Rs 280 crore in a year.
