BVG, a Pune-based company contracted for sanitation management in 60 wards of the city, is in confrontation with Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) over payment of dues. The JMC owes Rs12 crore, of which not a single penny has been paid to the company so far.

However, the truce between the two parties have been reached as the civic body has agreed to release Rs1 crore. During high level meeting between Jaipur Mayor Ashok Lahoti and BVG Chairman HR Gayakwad it was concluded that JMC will make partial payment to the latter.
According to the sources, the civic body was not satisfied with the company’s work and therefore stopped the payment. The company, though, argued that it would stop working to clean wards until the dues were cleared.
In view of this situation, talks between Lahoti and Gayakwad were held on Thursday at JMC headquarters. The meeting ended with the corporation agreeing to pay 1crore to resolve the dispute. The chairman on the other has also promised to redress complaints till Diwali.
The door-to-door waste collection is being done by BVG India Ltd of Pune in 60 wards out of 91 of the city. Recently, the municipal administration received complaints from the people over poor sanitation management. Also, the councilors expressed displeasure over the working of the company in their feedback to the municipal officials. They also raised this issue in the general body meeting held recently.
The councillors alleged that as per the contract the company needs to cover entire 91 wards, however its performance in existing 60 wards is not up to the mark.
